VoIP
in 2008
July 6, 2005
It is no secret that new VoIP technology is taking the business
world by storm. Its growth in recent years is off the charts.
It is no longer a question of "if" but "when"
every business will switch from a traditional telephone service
to a VoIP provider. Peter Hall, director or research at Ovum,
and his team have observed businesses and their usual 10 year
cycle with telephone technology. His findings are astonishing.
Ovum predicts IP PBXs will hit 50 per cent penetration by
2007 and 60 per cent by 2008.
According to Silicon.com, "IP telephony has reached the
mainstream. The technology is robust. The number of vendors
is considerable. The business case is becoming more sophisticated."
As time goes on providers will increase their business and
customer support to meet the demand of business.
According to a new study by Info-Tech Research, found that
23% of small- to mid-sized enterprises are already using VoIP
technology and the firm expects the number to grow to 50%
by 2008. If a business has not already implemented VoIP technology
they are looking in to it. This new VoIP technology is extremely
cost efficient and very popular among businesses.
These studies prove that VoIP technology is the way in which
businesses are moving in the future. This is a reliable and
safe way for people to cut cost and improve efficiency. The
VoIP market will not subside in 2008, it will continue to
grow and improve for years to come.
